BSc PGCE MSc MIMA CMath PhD

I am a former engineer with Rolls-Royce plc, a role that took me overseas and led to Chartered Mathematician status. Eager for a change, I embarked on a new path in education. For twenty-five years, I taught full-time within the state and independent sectors, taking on various roles such as Teacher of Mathematics, Principal Teacher of Mathematics and Chartered Teacher of Mathematics. To develop my professional identity, I worked for the SQA as a course writer for Higher Applications of Mathematics and as an approved examination marker for Advanced Higher Mathematics. I also spent a short time as a Numeracy Lecturer at HMP Barlinnie. Recently, I served as a member of the Scottish Mathematical Council and continue to help as a journal editor. Similarly, I remain an Associate Tutor for the University of Edinburgh and as a volunteer with the UK Mathematics Trust.

I have a range of personal interests that keep me balanced and energised. I enjoy watching rugby, hill walking, playing chess, and listening to jazz.
